Tyrrell's Potato Chips - Why are they chips and not crisps?

I always thought that in Britain they were crisps and in America they were chips. Here is what Tyrrell's has to say about their "chips"

"Potato chips are thick slices of potato that are cooked without removing the starch. This greatly improves the taste of the potato, and reduces the fat content of the chip. The result is a tasty chip full of goodness and flavour. In contrast, crisps are thin slices of potato that have had all the starch, goodness and flavour removed by washing and processing. Then the next question is why do Americans call our potato chips? Shouldn't they be crisps?

What is this?

Hello James Keiller & Son - makers of the famous Dundee orange marmalade.
Or rather -- not the makers of their famous marmalade for how many years? This original -- no longer family owned, no longer made in Dundee (let alone Scotland) and now is no longer in a white jar. We had been having trouble getting this product for the past couple months and now we know why. They were busy changing their packaging. Come to the store or order on line to get our last few jars we have in stock in the famous white jar.

Check out collectible jars on Ebay. Packaging of the James Keiller & Son product has always been sought after. For as long as I have known the product has been offered in a crock, thick white glass jar with the label printed in the jar, then a white jar with the label pasted on to the jar AND NOW a glass jar. I think it's wrong. What do you think?
